In 1961 at the Obuasi Sports Club, Mr. Kerry Williams an expatriate and Mr. P. T. Brew a Ghanaian teacher started the original Ashanti Goldfields School. Williams was the head of the school at the time.

Since its establishment, the school has gone through a long history and has relocated from its original location to its current location at Koffekrom. The original school and its facilities which are nestled on the North mine in Obuasi is the site of the Cambridge Curriculum Education, WB School.

WB School, a subsidiary and the British Curriculum branch of AngloGold Schools, officially begun on 6th September, 2016 with about 50 Students. Dr K. B. Tandoh, an Educational Consultant and a dynamic Speaker on Education & African Issues in collaboration with the then Head of School, Mrs Fadeke Uguru, began the School on a wide pedestal of innovations and great achievements. We operate hand in hand with the AngloGold Ashanti School (Our Parent School) which possesses the seat of our Executive Director. Our Current Executive Director Mr Simon Peter Attah Cato, hardworking personnel of excellent academic standard who possesses a genuine zeal for teaching and learning is keen on the pursuit of knowledge to build a world class School. The Executive Director supports the school division’s Strategic Plan in all activities, serves as a liaison between the two Schools, provides oversight on school allocations at all levels and ensures compliance with the staffing guidelines for each level, Preschool, Primary and Secondary.

The school is named WB School (Williams & Brew School) in honor of the first expatriate Headmaster (Mr. Kerry Williams) and first Ghanaian teacher (Mr. P. T. Brew). Our vision is simple: to become a world-class niche school that offer the Cambridge Curriculum in Obuasi operating from State-of-the-Art facilities tucked away behind what could become a university campus.

Through the years, WB School’s initiatives and innovations continues this legacy while evolving to provide students with a challenging and relevant education.

WB School is now one of Ghana’s leading international schools providing world class holistic education to children between the ages of 3 years and 18 years across its four sections namely:

Early Years Foundation Stage, Primary School, Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary School.

We are an accredited Cambridge Assessment International Examination School, which seeks to prepare learners for examinations including Cambridge Primary Checkpoint, Check point for Cambridge Secondary 1, IGCSE, AS and A Level, with English Language as the medium of instruction.
