With highly qualified and excellent Teachers, we are committed to developing Students who will have an impact on the world and solve the most pressing social issues of our time.

In 1961 at the Obuasi Sports Club (OSC), Mr. Kerry Williams (an expatriate) and Mr. P. T. Brew (the first Ghanaian Teacher) started the original Ashanti Goldfields School. Williams was the head of the School at the time. The School, since its establishment, has gone through a long history. The School was first split into School A (which was set up adjacent OSC) and School B( relocated to Koffekrom). School A was set up mainly to offer a curriculum suitable for the wards of the company’s expatriates as well as wards of some Senior Staff of the company.

School B was run with the Ghanaian curriculum and was open to the wards of Staff of the company. After some time, School A was remerged with School B to form one school run by the Ashanti Gold Fields. However, in 2011, as a result of the expatriate population and the need for their wards to receive an International-based curriculum, the company (AngloGold Ashanti) decided to set up a school which runs such a curriculum. The International Community School (ICS) was contracted to start a branch in Obuasi. The campus was set up at the OSC with a population of 10 Students and 5 Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff.

After a year, the School relocated to its own campus which was adjacent the OSC. In June 2016, the contract with the ICS came to an end. ICS handed the School over back to the company (AngloGold Ashanti) leaving a population of 25 Students and 7 teaching and non- teaching Staff.

Under the leadership Dr. K B Tandoh, the Cambridge Curriculum run School was renamed Williams and Brew School (WBS) in honor of the first Headmaster and first Ghanaian Teacher. Dr. Tandoh , Executive Director of AngloGold Ashanti Schools, that is AGA School, Koffiekrom and Williams and Brew School, North Mines, opened the School on 6th September, 2016 with a population of 36 Students and 13 Staff and the Head of School, Mrs Fadeke Uguru.

From September 2017 to February 2018, Ms Christiana Maanu, was the acting Executive Director for the AGA Schools with Mrs. Georgina Andoh-Owusu acting as the Head of School of WBS.  Mr. Cato was appointed the Executive Director of the AGA Schools in March 2018 and Mrs. Georgina Andoh-Owusu was confirmed the Head of School in September, 2018.

At present, the School and its facilities which are nestled on the Obuasi North mine, adjacent OSC, is the site of the Cambridge Curriculum Education, Williams and Brew School.

The School is a world class International Education for wards of expatriates and an alternative educational centre for Cambridge Assessment International Education open to the local community.

Our starters in 2016 were four Americans, three Nigerians, a Swiss-Ghanaian, an Australian-Ghanaian, a British-Ghanaian and twenty-six Students from the Obuasi community. Since then, our Student demographics have been multicultural, multiracial and bilingual with French as our second language.

Through the years, WB School’s initiative and innovation continue this legacy while evolving to provide Students with a challenging and relevant education. As it stands, the Student population is 94 with 20 Staff .
